How do I get a badge?
You can either buy a badge through the website pre-registration process or else you can purchase a badge at the show. In order to purchase through the website, you will need to create and log in to an account and then have either a PayPal account or a major credit card. You may purchase a badge through the large button on the Gary Con homepage or through the My Registration tab in your account details.
What types of badges are available?
We are currently offering 3 different badge types. Our full access, 4-day badge, is for all 4 days of the convention and for 2012 will be $40. This badge will allow you to participate in any and all events, include multiple event tickets, and give you 24 hour access to the convention space. Our second badge is a youth badge, designed for our attendees age 12 and under, which for 2012 will be $15. This will give you full access to the facility as well as some event tickets. Our third badge type, new this year, will be our observer’s badge. This badge will be valid for all 4 days, cost only $5, but will come with no event tickets. Observers will be allowed full access to the convention space, but will only be able to play in open gaming. Children 7 and under do not require a badge.
How does event registration work?
Event registration will be handled slightly differently this year. With a badge purchase, you will receive a fixed amount of Gary Con Points (GPs). These GPs will be used as a form of virtual currency to purchase or register for events. Depending on several different factors, events will have different GP costs associated with them. For example, our VIP events will cost more than non-VIP events and longer events will generally cost more than shorter ones. We have a closet economist on staff and we are attempting to find the optimal balance in having a real-time registration system that also recognizes the supply and demand nature of our various events.
When do I physically receive my badge and events?
You will pick up your badge and event tickets at the show. If you buy any souvenirs with the shipping option "will call", these will also be available for pick up at the show.

Event registration begins Sunday, January 29, 2012, at 4:00pm EST.
What are Gary Con Points?
Gary Con Points are the virtual currency that you get when you purchase a badge for Gary Con. These GPs, as we call them, can only be used to register for events.
My Profile shows Experience Points and a Level, what do these mean?
Your Gary Con experience points and level are indicators of how active you are and have been with Gary Con. You gain experience points simply by attending the show. You can gain additional experience points by becoming a Dungeon Master (i.e. running events), signing up to become a Gary Con Volunteer (i.e. helping us run the show), or by participating in special events. Your level will be based upon your experience points. In the future, we plan to have special events and rewards for our higher level attendees, so stay tuned. Please note, at this time, experience points have been tallied for 2009 and 2010 but have not yet been updated on your profile.
